About Me

Welcoming/Relational/Authentic

I will offer you a secure space that is welcoming and open to all as well as filled with compassion, acceptance, and curiosity. I believe that you will find me easily approachable and responsive to your unique needs and experiences. I hold a relational focus because the connection that you and I create is essential for the work it takes to get you closer to what you are looking for in your life. I am authentic and honest in my approach because we are humans coming together in a collaborative experience that requires trust and vulnerability to be able to work on hard things together.

Areas of Focus

I primarily provide individual counseling and therapy for adults and teens who are interested in personal growth and healing. I will work to support you in connecting with a deeper understanding of yourself in the context of your current life experiences while exploring any challenges from your past that may be linked. This can allow for increased awareness of opportunities for growth and greater courage to pursue healing with self-compassion. I hope to assist you in developing a more intentional relationship with your inner experience which can allow you to approach difficulties more purposefully and with increased confidence and flexibility. I aim to enhance your own strengths and your inherent ability to live a more meaningful life.

Right now. In this moment. You are enough. You are a whole person. You are a perfectly messy human being.

Professional Background

I have worked as a therapist and counselor for over 14 years in many different settings and am proud to be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed in the state of Indiana and the state of Illinois. I developed my foundation of being a person centered, strengths based, empowerment focused, social justice advocate while studying for my Masters of Social Work degree at Indiana University, though I had been drawn to these philosophies since before I had the words to describe them.

I am trained in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Mindfulness, Trauma Treatment, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management). If you would like to know more about these therapies, please contact me below.

Personal Background

I go by Wendy and use she/her/hers pronouns. I am an avid reader, appreciate time in nature, have a semi-regular meditation practice, enjoy new experiences and spending quality time with the good people and animals in my life (even virtually). I grew up in Indianapolis, then moved to Flagstaff, Arizona for 8 years and during that time, I received my Bachelors Degree in Photography from Northern Arizona University. Then I moved back to Indy where I found an even greater appreciation of the Midwest after having been away for so long.

When I found social work in 2005, it immediately felt like where I was meant to be all along.

It is an honor for me to bear witness to and accompany you on your journey. In an effort to be the best support I can be to you, I am dedicated to professional and personal growth as well as healing in myself. I participate in my own on-going personal therapy as well as on-going professional consultation while continuing to pursue an updated and deeper understanding of the concepts, theories, and best practices I bring to our sessions together.
